Mixed Doubles

A different way of curling seems to be seeping the country and it is called "Doubles Curling". In this game only 2 people play against 2 others. Some of the rules are the same but others are different. For example they only curl with 6 rocks not 8. The Fergus Curling Club fully embraces this new game and on Feb. 22 Donna Bessey has sponsored a trophy for a bonspiel at the club. This year the winners were from the local club a quarter point over a team from Milton. Bryce McGowan and Karen McMillan came out on top and Donna Bessey is on the left.

About The Club

The Fergus Curling Club was established in 1834 and has operated every year since making it the oldest continuously operating curling club in Ontario.

We are a four sheet club of 260 members. There is a club room, bar, kitchen, and locker rooms. Much of the work around the club is voluntary with the exception of ice-making and caretaking.

The club is managed by a nine person board of directors elected annually from the general membership.
