Mixed Doubles Bonspiel : 2019

 2019 Mixed Doubles

A different kind of bonspiel was held at the Fergus Curling Club on Feb. 23. This bonspiel consists of only 2 people on a team instead of 4 thus it is called doubles curling. There are a couple of different rules but otherwise it is the same as regular curling. It is an exciting new way of curling and other than being accepted as a major tournament it is accepted by the OCA. This one was the first for the Fergus Club and a trophy was put up for grabs by Donna and daughter Melinda Bessy in memory of her late husband Brian who was an avid curler.

The winners were from the Milton Curling Club in the centre and are L to R: Brenda Nix and Scott Gillard. Others attending the bonspiel because it is so new came from Ottawa, Peterbourgh, Cold Water, as well as locals from Elora and Fergus. Melinda is on the left and Donna is on the right.
